About Paramount Coffee

Paramount Coffee Company, established in 1935 by three ambitious men in mid-Michigan, has evolved from humble beginnings into one of the Midwest's largest coffee roasters. Initially a family-run operation, it faced and overcame challenges like the Great Depression, WWII rationing, and the energy crises of the '70s. The company's growth was marked by becoming an official importer in the '50s, expanding its product line, and building a new roasting plant.

The '80s and '90s saw technological advancements and the introduction of Paramount Gourmet Coffee, catering to the specialty coffee segment and the burgeoning coffeehouse market. In 2000, a significant transition to employee ownership under an ESOP plan set a new course, enhancing product offerings, introducing new lines like Joe Knows Coffee, and expanding into international markets.

Today, Paramount Coffee reflects the collective spirit of its employee-owners. Led by a team with deep roots in the company since the early '90s, Paramount continues to thrive, committed to quality, service, and the pursuit of coffee excellence.
